Mexico Mission Trip
Februray 2009
Jeryl-
Greetings from cloudy and rainy Mexico! We are well - a couple cases of intestinal virus, but currently all are active and working and playing hard. The staff here is amazing. There is almost no other word that I can think of to describe all of them - hard-working, loving, smart, filled with the Holy Spirit, every one.
Prayer requests are at the end of this letter. I'll tell you first what we're doing here!
Luci, Ethan, Tahlia, Elise, and Louisa divide their time between washing walls and playing, eating, and singing with the boys (and a couple girls), playing soccer, playing soccer and playing soccer. Each one is a magnet for the little, medium, and big boys. Sarah has been working in the kitchen, shopping and in general has become one of the ladies here. Hannah has done millions of dishes and scraped surfaces in preparation for painting. Michael is taking a lot of video, organizing the kids washing the outer walls of the compound and buildings, teaching the boys to use the cameras he brought and edit the video footage. Michael is, to use an old expression, 'in his glory' here. John has also done lots of dishes, repaired the van, plumbing, and with Chuck is organizing the 'shop'. Chuck is ministering to the men here and doing plenty of physical labor as well. I (Susan) have done dishes, cleaned bathrooms, manned the laundry room, collected songs, played endless rounds of 'Uno' and 'Pit' with the boys, gone to the villages, spent time with Mrs. Moller, and taught lessons in fractions.
The folks here are kind, generous, fun, warm and have provided for all our needs. The food is good and plenteous, and sleeping accomodations comfortable and clean. We are loving being with them and each other. We are all growing spiritually in this spritually fertile environment.
Thank you for your prayers. Hannah surely felt them in the middle of her sick day yesterday, and there was a moment when she knew that you were praying, and that the Lord was healing her.
We ask you now to especially prayer for Mrs. Moller, who is discouraged by her age and physical limitations. She has a unique anointing to minister to local people. Pray that God gives her strength and encouragement to continue.
Also, pray now for the miraculous healing of Juanita. She has advanced breast cancer and lives alone. The Mollers built her house and a staff couple visit her several times weekly. We visited her yesterday, and will go again tomorrow. Sarah wants to take care of replacing bandages, etc.
Thank you for making this possible and for the generosity of the congregation, which is much appreciated.
your sister in Christ
Susan
